Award-winning choreographer brings children’s dance theatre to Museum

Plymouth City Museum and Art Gallery will host a day of promenade performances by an award-winning choreographer on Saturday 2 July.

‘The Imagination Museum’ has been created by Lincolnshire-born choreographer Katie Green in collaboration with writer Anna Selby and composer Max Perryment.

Visitors will meet eccentric tour guides Mildred, Henry and Harriet and join them on a journey as they explore the Museum’s nooks and crannies.

Mildred, Henry and Harriet will bring a series of objects from the collections to life through words and movement as they go. Visitors can follow them as they work their way around the ground floor galleries.

“Katie Green’s and her company have been doing some fantastic work in recent years as they develop new ways of responding to historical objects and heritage sites through dance,” said Arts and Cultural Development Manager, Judith Robinson.

“Katie and her company work with a range of artists to create stories that bring the past to life in new ways. We are thrilled to be kick-starting the summer at the Museum and Art Gallery with this unique event that people young and old will enjoy.”

Thirty-minute performances of The Imagination Museum will take place at 11am, 1pm and 3pm. Admission is free and there is no need to book in advance.

The Imagination Museum is the first in a series of exciting events that the Museum and Art Gallery will be running over the summer as it builds towards closure on 3 September so the development of the Plymouth History Centre can get under way.
