Appeal after woman attacked in Plymouth

Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was robbed and punched repeatedly in Plymouth at the weekend.

A 20-year-old local woman was walking her dog through a rear lane in between Royal Navy Avenue and Parkside, in the Keyham area, when she was approached from behind by a man and struck to the back of the head.

During the incident, which happened on Sunday 16 August at around 11.15am, her dog was kicked and she was punched repeatedly to the face.

The offender stole her Samsung Galaxy S4 mobile phone and white purse and ran back down the lane back towards Royal Navy Avenue.

A 20-year-old Plymouth man arrested on suspicion of robbery and released on police bail until 19 September.

Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
