Taylor Wimpey Exeter has submitted a reserved matters planning application for its new development in Cullompton following a second public consultation.
Culm Valley Park will comprise 105 homes, of which 30 will be provided for rent through the local authority. The development will include a new nature trail park for the community, with around 40% of the total site offering open space to the people of Cullompton. The existing Siskin Chase play area will be extended within the site to create more space for new and existing residents to enjoy.
Sustainability is a key priority for Taylor Wimpey, and Culm Valley Park will include measures such as provision for electric vehicle charging points to each house, an increase in biodiversity through new plant species, hibernaculum (winter wildlife shelters) and bat/bird boxes, new allotments, and a reduction in flood risk downstream of the site.
Permanent vehicle access to the new development will be via Siskin Chase, with pedestrian access points from Siskin Chase and Colebrooke Lane. However, following consultation with local residents and Cullompton Town Council, construction access will be from Colebrooke Lane to keep disruption to a minimum.
The development received outline planning permission in September 2020 following a public consultation event in December 2018. The reserved matters application confirms details such as the layout and appearance of the new homes. An online public consultation for this application was held in December 2020.
Through contributions agreed as part of the outline permission, Taylor Wimpey will also pledge approximately £646,000 towards improving schools in Cullompton, as well as a £40,000 contribution to Mid Devon District Council to improve air quality in the town.
