RGB Building Supplies has selected the finalists for its first Surprise Supplies giveaway and it’s now down to the public to choose two winners to receive £1,000 worth of building materials each.

RGB had invited businesses and groups from across the region that had been affected by the pandemic to get in touch and explain how a donation would help.

The finalists are Gourmet Leaves in Crediton, Lanivet Community Centre in Bodmin, Manor House & Ashbury Hotels in Okehampton, and The Pine Centre in Bideford.

After losing 90% of its customer base last year, Gourmet Leaves – a small, family-run hydroponic farm and vineyard that grows lettuce and other vegetables – created home delivery salad bags and also donated produce to food banks, pantries and local NHS workers. The company has plans to add business by converting a barn and the donation would be used to purchase the necessary materials.

Lanivet Community Centre serves people in the Bodmin area and offers a host of activities for all ages, backgrounds and interests. The centre is aiming to build an extension to house a coffee shop for use by communities throughout the region. If voted as a winner, it will use the £1,000 to help with the build.

Manor House & Ashbury Hotels are well-established in the Okehampton area and offer a wide range of sport, craft, leisure and spa facilities. If voted as a winner, they will use the £1,000 to purchase supplies to renovate some of the rooms to upgrade the accommodation.

The Pine Centre is a small family-run business located in Bideford that sells furniture and kitchens; it manufactures a large proportion of the furniture. It would use the £1,000 worth of building materials to help build a new display kitchen for the showroom which would feature freestanding units to add to its range, as well as paint the showroom to give it a fresh look.

Kevin Fenlon, CEO of RGB, commented:

“The COVID-19 pandemic meant a number of local businesses had to close for a large part of the past 18 months, so we’re delighted to be able to offer some help with our Surprise Supplies initiative. We received some fantastic nominations and wish the finalists the best of luck. We’d like to encourage people to get involved and vote for who they would like to receive £1,000 to spend at their local RGB branch.”

The vote will take place between Monday 14th June and 8am on Monday 28th June. Votes cast outside these dates will not be counted. Only one vote per person via one method of voting will be counted.

The two finalists that receive the most votes will receive £1,000 each to spend at their local RGB branch.
