If you happen to be one of the lucky few that, within the new world of remote working, could leave your living room as is and retreat into a home office space, then we applaud you. No more spending your work day at a kitchen table!

Setting up your home office space would have been a real treat as you begin to settle into a new routine of working from home; unfortunately, the novelty of things can wane.

Hence, it might be time for you to spruce up your home office space to re-energise yourself. After all, if something is causing you not to feel your best, then all other aspects of your life, such as your job, can begin to suffer.

Whether that spare room is just a small home office, or you have a space big enough to run around it, these office spruce-up tips are for you!

Time to Change your Chair

One of the most important things you will have within your home office will be your office chair. If you work and spend long periods sitting at a desk, then having a comfortable and back supportive chair is important.

You’re bound to notice how good your office chair is, particularly if you begin to experience back pain after sitting in one chair for extended periods. For that reason, getting a great chair, you can spend your work hours in is vital.

Another great way to spruce up your office space is to add another comfortable chair to a corner of your room. This chair can be a more relaxing space that you can retreat to when taking a small break from the screen or pondering some work-related ideas.

By creating different zones in your office space, you can maximise the usage of your space, giving it a multi-function space feel.

Add a Gallery Wall

If you feel your wall space is missing something, it might be time to add a gallery wall. Alternatively, if you already have one, it might be time to swap out all the artwork and pictures you have displayed to create a new vibe.

A great rule of thumb is to create a mix of artwork that inspires you, pictures of memories with friends and family alongside any professional achievements you may have.

There are many different ways you can display these things on your walls, whether uniformly with the pictures in one size and style of frame; or with different sized and different coloured frames.

The choice is down to you, as when it comes to home decor elements such as this, there is no right or wrong way to decorate.

Another great and practical alternative is adding a large wall-mounted cork wall. This can add character to your walls whilst allowing you to stick any important paper documents into an eye-level position. You are also not restricted to a plain brown corkboard, as many different paint options are available to transform your board.

Assess your Desk Space

After a while, you’ll know whether your desk is right for your needs. Check to see whether your desk is too cluttered with stuff, as this will mean you are simply due to a larger desk. That advice might seem rather obvious; however, we are all creatures of habit, so we may not even realise that we need to upgrade.

On the other hand, it might be time to add more storage space around your desk, allowing you to clear some desk space without changing your desk for a larger one.

By adding a small cabinet under your desk, you can ensure that you have all the important things you need right by your side, including all your important office supplies.

No more living life on the edge of having an accidental coffee spill that drowns all your important documents in one bad move.

Add More Lighting

Working with the big light on can be a habit that can hurt your eyes in the long run, especially if your lightbulbs are not strong enough.

Make sure you add a good desk lamp that can help illuminate any important work you do on your desk whilst simultaneously creating a relaxing working environment in your room.

Natural light is also very important, so allow as much light as possible into your space. A great movie to make is to position your desk at a window to ensure you’re catching enough daylight.

If your space is limited to a small window, a great way to add more light is to add a mirror to your space that will reflect more light into your room. This great interior design trick will make your room appear even larger.
