A public lifestyle event is being organised in Plymouth for people with long term skin conditions.

The event organised by Northern, Eastern and Western Devon Clinical Commissioning Group will be an opportunity for adults and carers of children with eczema and psoriasis to come together, share their experiences and meet with nurse specialists and representatives from the health industry including producers of skin care and lifestyle products.

It will take place on Monday 24 March 2014, between 5pm and 9pm at the Future Inn, Plymouth International Business Park, 1 William Prance Rd, Plymouth.

Emily Faircloth, Commissioning and Engagement Manager with NEW Devon CCG, said: “Inspired by the Individuals at the Centre programme, we believe this event will have a positive impact in empowering people with these conditions in achieving and maintaining healthy skin and in avoiding flare-ups and complications which also fits in with a preventative healthcare approach.

“We'll also be looking to recruit people with an aim to create an inclusive, sustainable community where patients can get support from specialists and each other in a way that meets their needs and does not undermine the clinical care they are already receiving.”

Mrs Faircloth added: “We would encourage anyone with eczema or psoriasis who would benefit from attending this event to come along or contact us for more information.”
