Read on to find out when your local McDonalds is open in three key Devon locations, the best times to go to avoid crowds, and what Covid regulations to keep in mind on your visit so that everyone can stay safe. Please do always check with your local restaurant, as opening times can vary.

What are McDonald’s opening times in Devon?

With the heatwave that has hit the whole country, more people venture into getting a quick takeaway rather than labouring over hot stoves to make dinner. This is where McDonald’s comes in handy – with quick orders and collection, you can enjoy a meal with little effort in town.

We have picked three key locations for central McDonald’s’ in Plymouth, Exeter, Torquay to give you the full opening times, so you can pop in regardless of the time of day. Other restaurants stop cooking by the time some of us get to have dinner, but it seems their opening hours are made for any schedule.

Without further ado, let’s dive into a world of convenient takeaways with McDonald’s opening times in the three key restaurants, all situated in your town’s centre.

McDonald's Plymouth

If you live in Plymouth, you know there are two restaurants in the centre, on the same street! Now, that’s plenty of choices. We will look at the one on 100 New George Street since its opening times are slightly longer, but this doesn’t mean you should discard going to their other restaurants if this one’s too busy.

From Sunday to Thursday, Plymouth’s central McDonalds is open between 6:00am and 11:45pm, so you can essentially grab a meal anytime. This gets even better on Friday and Saturday. You can pop in after drinks with your friends, given the restaurant is open from 6am to 2am.

McDonald's Exeter

Exeter’s McDonald's restaurant on 190 High Street could not get any more central, as you will find it in the heart of the Shopping Centre for a quick takeaway after shopping or even for a meal on your way home from seeing friends.

From Monday to Sunday, it is open between 6:30am and 11:50pm. If this kind of consistency is what you’re after because of a strict schedule, you can have your takeaway any day of the week without worrying that the restaurant will close.

McDonald’s Torquay

This restaurant on 114 Union Street makes for an easy seaside picnic meal with family and friends on a hot summer day since it is within walking distance from the beach. If you feel it is too hot for a takeaway, think twice, because a refreshing salad and sweet McFlurry make for the perfect combo when the sun is out.

You will find the restaurant open from 8am to 10pm from Monday to Sunday, which couldn’t be more convenient for those going for a sunbathing session. If you’ve not poured an espresso shot into a vanilla milkshake yet, you are missing out on some top-notch iced coffee.

What are the best times to grab and go at McDonald’s?

If you’re going for quick service, you will want to avoid the peak times in McDonald’s restaurants. What is worse than wanting one ice cream and waiting to get it for 20 minutes? Perhaps nothing.

This is why we carried out research using Google to figure out the best times to go into Devon’s McDonald’s restaurants. Say goodbye to long queues that make you wait long for your order.

The following data gives you a great outline of when you should pop into your local McDonalds to avoid the rush, stay safe while ordering, and avoid contact with others as much as you can.

McDonald's Plymouth

From Monday to Thursday, your visit might have to either be up until 4pm, or after 7pm, and the restaurant is not too busy during these times. On Friday, however, you are better off either going up until 11am, between 12pm and 3pm, or after 9pm.

During the weekend, the restaurant is busiest on Saturdays, when the best times to go are usually up until 10am or after 8pm. Sundays seem to be the quietest days of the week, with little customers until 3pm and after 8pm, but only a bit of a crowd if any at all between 3pm and 8pm.

Regardless of the time you choose to visit, you should know that usually your wait will take about 15 minutes. This will vary depending on how big or small your order is, but it is handy to know how much time to expect to spend there on average.

McDonald's Exeter

From Monday to Thursday, you will find that the best times to visit Exeter’s McDonalds are until 11am and after 2pm, when you will most likely find a quiet store. On Friday, however, the best times to visit are before 11am and after 3pm, with way more people getting their takeaways during peak hours.

The weekend brings quite a busy Saturday, when the best times to visit are before 10am and after 4pm. On Sunday, the restaurant is mostly quiet, but the very best times to visit are before 12pm and after 2pm.

Your time spent in Exeter’s restaurant will be slightly shorter than in Plymouth’s, with an average of 10 minutes from the moment you step in to when you happily leave with your meal. Please remember this can vary depending on what you order and how busy the restaurant is.

McDonald’s Torquay

The great location near the seaside makes this restaurant extremely popular, which means that the best times to visit to avoid crowds are before 10am and after 7pm from Monday to Thursday. If you are going on Friday, your best bet is to go before 10am and after 9pm.

On a typical Saturday, this restaurant gets busier than ever. You should try to visit before 10am and after 10pm to avoid the rush. However, Sunday is the best day to visit, with off-peak opening hours before 11am and after 8pm. Even the busier times are not too active, so you can pop in during the day too.

Since this location is busier than usual, you might spend up to 15 minutes in the restaurant for the time it takes to order and receive your food. This can also take more or less depending on your order and how busy the restaurant is.

What are McDonald’s Covid safety measures?

If stepping into a crowded restaurant causes you concern, you needn’t worry when you pop into your local McDonald’s. There are several Covid safety measures in place to keep both you and their team safe.

From PPE to social distancing, McDonald’s is following the Government’s guidance on protecting the public. When you do step into a McDonald’s restaurant, there are some Covid safety rules you should keep in mind:

  • A team member will be standing at the door in PPE and let you know whether they have reached maximum capacity, or if you can walk in.
  • There will be sanitising stations both on entrance and on exit for you to use.
  • Follow the one-way system marked with arrows to reach an order screen that will have been sanitised.
  • After ordering, make your way to and stand in the waiting area while socially distancing from other customers.
  • When your order is ready to collect, it will be placed on a counter that has protective screens.
  • After collecting your order, follow the one-way system out of the restaurant.

If you have made it to the end, we hope to have helped you plan your next visit to your local McDonald’s restaurant, whether you wish to avoid the rush hours or pop in whenever. We hope that the guidance on Covid regulations has also shed some light on the measures taken to make sure you are safe, so you can visit without a single worry in the world.
