A local charity is promising a wildlife invasion of Plymouth City Centre.

Devon Wildlife Trust’s (DWT) annual Wildlife Festival is to take place in Plymouth on Saturday 27 April between 10am and 4pm and the organisers are asking people to come along and enjoy a really wild day out.

The free event is taking place in Plymouth’s Piazza, Armada Way. The Wildlife Festival is now in its seventh year and has become a family-favourite with its mix of live animals, crafts, things to do and things to take part in.

Jo Pullin DWT’s event organiser said: ”Where else but the Wildlife Festival could you have the chance to meet Charles Darwin, giant bugs, a marine robot and birds of prey? This year we’re also being joined by Exmoor Zoo who are bringing along animals for people to see and interact with – although we can’t promise a tiger!”

Jo continued: “The Festival is about getting hands on and doing things. On the day people will be able to make a nest box, design badges, take part in marine crafts and get their face painted. This year we’re also using the Festival to kick-start our ‘Get Devon Buzzing’ campaign. In this we want people to help the county’s wonderful but struggling bees. At the Festival you’ll be able make, take home and plant a ‘seed bomb’ packed with bee-friendly flower seeds, or design and decorate your own paper flower to plant in our bee garden.”

The 2013 Wildlife Festival is being sponsored by South West Water. Staff from the company will be at the event to dispense giveaways and advice on water use.
