New 1950s Themed ‘Train to Nowhere’ Murder Mystery Experience at South Devon Railway

Beyond Paradise fans can channel their inner DI Goodman and DS Williams on a brand-new Train Murder Mystery at South Devon Railway, which doubles for the fictional Shipton Abbott station in the hit BBC series.

Staged by Murder by Appointment, the longest established murder mystery company in the West of England, ‘Train to Nowhere’ is a 1950s themed evening of suspense and suspicion.

Guests are invited to attend a party on a train by an eccentric and successful  film director, where he will reveal the casting line-up of his new  film, a re-make of the famous 1945 film ‘Brief Encounter’.

As the journey progresses, jealousy and corruption join the party as both the ‘well-known’ and ‘has-been’ stars fight for a role in the new film.

Watch as the story unfolds; listen out for any clues, get those grey cells working, and question the cast to try and identify the murderer.

The evening starts at Buckfastleigh Station from 18.30 and the train will depart at 19.00. The return time is scheduled to be no later than 22.00.

There is a casual dress code for the evening but, if you would like to dress for the era, a prize is available for the best outfit.

Each customer will receive a hot Devon pasty (selectable at the checkout) and the on-train Buffet Car will be open for the sale of hot, cold and alcoholic drinks, including wine, local beers and cider.

Murder Mystery Dates 2024: The 1950s Crime (new for 2024) - 30th May, 20th June, 9th August, 13th September, 26th September. More dates will be added to the calendar, subject to demand. Tickets cost £29 each and are available on the South Devonn Railway website.
