Plymouth’s Ocean City Festival is returning to our shores in September and is sponsored by Ocean BMW Plymouth.

Running from Monday 8 to Sunday 28 September, this spectacular twenty-day festival of fun will include over 30 events celebrating everything that makes Plymouth’s waterfront location – and its relationship with the sea – so special.

Garry Parker, General Manager of Ocean BMW Plymouth, said: “Ocean are dedicated to working with the City of Plymouth and as such are proud to be supporting the festival this year, we will be attending several of the events and am sure it will be a success for all involved”

The festival is designed to appeal to all ages, offering a real variety including seafood, aquatic activities, marine conservation, education, marine science, an international film festival plus hands on family fun. The festival also has a business side, which focuses on Plymouth’s diverse marine companies and expertise.

Leader of Plymouth City Council, Tudor Evans, said: “Plymouth is fast becoming one of the finest waterfront cities in the world. Not only have we attracted well-known sailing events to our harbour we are also the first city in the world to obtain the Fish2Fork Blue City status, with the majority of our city’s restaurants now demonstrating excellent sustainable seafood practices.

“As Britain’s Ocean City it is very fitting to have Ocean BMW as the festival’s main sponsor. It is great to have them on board this year. Sponsorship is extremely important, especially with cuts to our funding, and enables us to continue to deliver excellent events in our city for everyone to enjoy.”
Chris Arscott, Chairman of Plymouth Waterfront Partnership and the Ocean City Festival organisation team added: “Working with a number of Plymouth’s key marine and waterfront organisations we have seen this event grow year on year. The Plymouth Waterfront Partnership Business Improvement District (BID) funds the Plymouth Seafood Festival, a main focus during the three weeks, and we are very much looking forward to showcasing what our fantastic waterfront has to offer.”

Ocean City Festival is organised by Plymouth City Council and delivered in partnership with Plymouth University, the National Marine Aquarium, Plymouth Chamber of Commerce and Industry, The Plymouth Marine Laboratory, Sir Alister Hardy Foundation for Ocean Science, Sport Environment, The Marine Biological Association, Plymouth Waterfront Partnership, Plymouth City Centre Company, the Culture Board and Destination Plymouth.
