Fun packed Dartmoor Summer Fair

Join in a great family day out at the Dartmoor Summer Fair on Saturday 29 July. The National Park Visitor Centre, Princetown is celebrating National Parks Week with a great line up of guests, stalls and activities to fill your day.

There’s a fantastic opportunity for Otter Spotters  to meet up to six Moor Otters who will be getting together on the day! Go on the Moor Otters Trail and see how many you can find – great prizes to be won! There may be a special surprise for all Otter Spotters - come along and see if you can spot it!

The Dartmoor schools mini Moor Otter designs will also be making their first public appearance. Come along and design your own Moor Otter -the best designs win a prize!

Meet  Josephine Collingwood as she launches her stunning new book, A Compendium of Tors  - with over 700 professional photographs and informative facts about each of Dartmoor’s tors this book shows the reader how nearly every tor on Dartmoor is surrounded by an astonishing abundance of fascinating features and history.  For every book sale, £2 goes to Donate for Dartmoor  to help with vital conservation work in the National Park. Come along and get your signed copy at the Fair.

Dartmoor farmer and author Colin Pearse will be reciting his wonderful poems and there will be a chance to meet Dartmoor Greyface and Whiteface sheep and see how their fleece inspires a huge range of local Dartmoor products.

Talk to the wonderful artisans behind the Dartmoor range of products sold in the National Park Centres - from mugs to sticks, hats to sauces, images to marmalade!

Discover the Science of Wild Dartmoor!  As well as learning about the amazing plants that inhabit Dartmoor’s blanket bogs join in with bug-hunting, plant trails, science experiments and nature crafts.

Join in on a free guided walk with Moorland Guides  to discover more of Princetown and the surrounding moor!

Meet the rescuers - learn about moor safety and the equipment required to carry out their operations from the Tavistock branch of the Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team.

There’s so much going on at this popular event, now in its third great year. Doors open at 11 am and the Fair finishes at 4 pm. Be sure to give yourself enough time to fit everything in!
