Evita comes to Theatre Royal Plymouth

The story of an ordinary woman’s meteoric rise to power at a time of extraordinary political unrest comes to Theatre Royal Plymouth from Tuesday 14 – Saturday 18 August.

Telling the story of Eva Perón, wife of former Argentine dictator Juan Perón, Evita follows Eva’s journey, which ultimately led her to be heralded as the ‘spiritual leader of the nation’ by the Argentine people. Lucy O’Bynre stars as Eva Perón, with Mike Sterling as Juan Perón and Glenn Carter as Ché.

With more than 20 major awards to its credit, an Oscar winning film version starring Madonna and Antonio Banderas, and featuring some of the best loved songs in musical theatre, including Don’t Cry for Me Argentina, On This Night of a Thousand Stars, You Must Love Me, and Another Suitcase in Another Hall; Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s extraordinary musical Evita is an iconic classic not to be missed!

Lucy O’Byrne’s theatre credits include The Sound of Music (UK Tour), Les Misérables (Queen’s Theatre), Therese Raquin (Park Theatre) and Fiddler on the Roof (Gaiety Theatre). Lucy’s screen credits include Proms in the Park (BBC), Ballybraddan (RTE) and The Voice (BBC), where she was a runner-up in 2015. Lucy’s recording credits include her solo album Debut (Island Records).

Mike Sterling’s theatre credits include The Phantom of the Opera (Her Majesty’s Theatre & UK Tour), Les Misérables (Palace Theatre), High Society (UK Tour), Lady in the Dark (Century Theatre, Beijing) and Oliver (Beijing Opera House). Mike performed in both the 10th and 25th Anniversary Concerts of Les Misérables at the Royal Albert Hall and the O2 Arena, and also performs in and is also the producer of Stars of the West End which tours both in the UK and internationally. 

Glenn Carter’s extensive musical credits include leading roles in Jesus Christ Superstar (Lyceum Theatre, London, Broadway and UK & European Tour; honoured by the Drama League, with an Outstanding Performance in a Musical Award), Jersey Boys (Prince Edward Theatre), Whistle Down the Wind (Aldwych Theatre), Chess (Prince Edward Theatre), Cats (New London Theatre), Les Misérables (Palace Theatre), Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (London Palladium) and Grease (Dominion Theatre). His other theatre credits include The Case of the Frightened Lady (UK Tour), As You Like It (Theatre Royal Bath, UK/US Tour), Hamlet (Ludlow Festival), Moon Landing, Into The Woods, Arabian Nights, Macbeth, Merrily We Roll Along and Company (Derby Playhouse), Godspell (Nottingham Playhouse) and Midsummer Songs (New Wolsey, Ipswich). Glenn’s screen credits include Jesus Christ Superstar (Universal Studios), Two Days, Nine Lives (Stairafilm Motion Pictures), Hollyoaks (Channel 4), Psychoville (BBC), Doctors (BBC) and The Bill (ITV).
