Young musicians and singers from across Plymouth will be making beautiful music together in a thrilling concert linked to Armed Forces Day.

Talented youngsters from the Plymouth Youth Concert Band will be sharing the stage with the musicians from HMS Drake Royal Navy Volunteer Band and the recently-formed Rwindband for a rousing concert at the Minster Church of St Andrew on Wednesday 25 June from 7pm.

The Military Kids Choir will also contribute some of their most popular songs. The grand finale will see over 75 players joining forces to bring the evening to a stirring climax.

The concert, which is being held on the run up to Armed Forces Day, will feature a programme of contemporary concert band music, movie favourites and other popular themes. It is designed to showcase close artistic co-operation between members of Plymouth City Council’s Youth Music Service ensembles and other local community and Forces bands.

Councillor Sue McDonald, Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Public Health, said: “This is a fantastic way to honour our Service men and women and celebrate the excellent programme of musical education for young people in the city. This is an incredibly inspiring and proud night for all those involved.”

This is a free event, although there will be a retiring collection on the evening in aid of Service charities.
