Plymouth Arts Cinema hosts event for Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning as part of Plymouth Art Weekender
Plymouth Arts Cinema is hoping to raise much-needed money for people living with cancer by hosting an event as part of Macmillan Cancer Support’s World Biggest Coffee Morning.
The event is being held on Sunday 29 September at Plymouth Arts Cinema at 10am – 12.30pm. Organisers are inviting people to come along and grab something delicious to eat while watching a selection of films made by Plymouth based moving image artists, and raising vital funds for the growing number of people living with cancer across the UK.
Macmillan is almost entirely funded by donations and simply cannot support the growing number of people with cancer who need them without the public’s help. Every two minutes someone in the UK is diagnosed with cancer. There are over 2.5 million people living with cancer in the UK and this is set to grow to almost 4 million by 2030.
Director Anna Navas says “cancer has affected lots of our lives and we wanted to do something to give back to an amazing charity. This also seemed like the perfect opportunity to create a fun event for Plymouth Art Weekender that tied together our love of cake and cinema! We are all a bit obsessed with GBBO to so it's nice to be able to show off some of our delicious baking inventions to our customers!”
Cancer can affect anyone, and it impacts on every part of your life. Macmillan provides financial, physical and emotional support for people living with cancer, so that’s why I/we* want to raise money so that everybody gets the help they need”.
