The Lord Mayor’s Festival will return to Plymouth city centre on Saturday 26 May.

The festival, sponsored by Rowes Honda and Rowes Suzuki, will welcome Councillor Sam Davey to his new role as Lord Mayor when he takes over from Councillor Wendy Foster in May.

The theme for this year’s festival is ‘dinosaurs’ and there’s plenty planned for young explorers to enjoy, including a dinosaur trail through the city centre and dinosaur digs and crafts with The Box team.

The Piazza will be home to a full programme of entertainment from 10am to 4pm, including the chance to meet Tiny the dinosaur, a 125 million years young dinosaur brought to life by the wonders of modern science.

Community groups and charities will also be hosting stands throughout the city centre to showcase their work.

Councillor Glenn Jordan, Cabinet Member for Culture, said: “The Lord Mayor’s Festival is always a wonderful celebration of the people, groups and charities working hard to make Plymouth a great place to live and I’d encourage any organisations that haven’t already signed up to get involved.

“This year is set to be another fantastic family day out, with activities and performances that I’m sure will appeal to children and adults alike.”

Community groups, clubs and charities who would like to take a stall at the event should email sabrina.pearce@plymouth.gov.uk or call 01752 307811.

There will be competitions in the run-up to the festival with dinosaur themed prizes. To find out more see What’s On Plymouth on Facebook and Twitter.
