Busy half term for families at City Museum and Art Gallery

Plymouth City Museum and Art Gallery has a busy programme of family events and activities on offer during February half term.

On Tuesday 16 February there's a chance to make art and craft creations inspired by the thousands of objects in the Museum’s collections. The ‘Colour and Collage’ drop-in session will run from from 10.30am to 1pm with last entries at 12.30pm.

The following day (Wednesday 17 February) there are some fun ‘Ugly Bug Ball’ sessions where people can make insect masks, look at natural history specimens and dance like a bug. Sessions run from 10.30am to 12pm and 2pm to 3.30pm and families are welcome to go along in costume.

Admission to both events is free and there's no need to book in advance. People can drop in for as little or as long as they like but activities are organised on a first come, first served basis.

On Thursday 18 February artist Rachel Griffin will be leading a ‘Beautiful Boxes’ workshop, where people will make Chinese boxes decorated with designs based on the patterns and costumes in the ‘China Connection’ and ‘Bringing the World to Plymouth’ galleries.

Entry costs £2.50 per child and accompanying adults go free but places are limited and likely to fill up fast. People are advised to book in advance by calling 01752 304774 or by visiting the Museum Welcome Desk.

As well as these organised events, there are ‘Pick Up and Go’ activities inspired by the Museum’s collections and activities from 10am to 5pm on Saturday 13, Friday 19 and Saturday 20 February. Visitors can collect details from the Colouring Station in the foyer have a go at the free activities as they work their own way around the galleries.
