Marine Academy Plymouth’s website (www.marineacademy.org.uk) has recently reached a significant landmark, receiving over 100,000 hits on its home page —

This feat has been achieved since the first MAP site went live at the end of June 2010. And now to celebrate, the school has launched a brand new site.

Academy Principal, Nick Ward said: "The website has been a great success since it first went live and continues to be a valuable asset to the Academy, but now we are effectively an all-through school, offering education from 0 years in our nursery, through primary, secondary and Sixth Form, we needed to show that through our website.”

The website celebrates the successes of the whole of the Academy, as well as being used as a communication tool for parents and pupils.

The old website was fundamental in the Marine Academy winning a few national awards for their online and digital presence, something that Mr Ward is keen to replicate with this new incarnation.

He said: “Our new site is, positively beautiful. It’s totally responsive so whether you’re viewing it on a tablet, a phone or a PC the user’s experience will be a positive one.

“We’re delighted with all the attention the website is getting, it’s vibrant and cutting-edge, I think it’s reflecting the whole Academy very well to the outside world.”

The website was built by education specialists, EMPRA (www.empra.co.uk) who entered the website into the national 'Best For Web' awards. The site won a Silver in the south west regional awards, and a Bonze in the national awards.
