Mr Chris Gatherer Headmaster of Plymouth College Preparatory School certainly thinks so. To demonstrate the difference made to a child’s education the Prep School is throwing open their doors, for local families to see the difference.

Families will be able to see Science, Modern Foreign Languages, Maths, English, Geography, History, Art, Cookery, Sport, Music and Drama performances all lead by subject specialists.

The event for the co-educational independent day school for children 3 to 11 year olds is taking place on Saturday 11 March 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Visitors will be able to take a tour of the school, talk to the Headmaster and meet the teachers and pupils.
Even the Pre-School, which accepts children from two, is led by qualified teachers ensuring little minds get the best possible start. Kay Wills Head of Early Years says, “We have noticed the children coming from the Plymouth College Pre-School are significantly in front of the national average. Demonstrating the difference that real teaching in Pre-School makes.”

The School combines a healthy balance of high-quality academic study and a broad range of sporting and artistic activities. The School also understands the demands of modern life on families with wrap around care from 8am – 6pm included. The school accepts nursery vouchers for 3 and 4 year olds.

The Millfields-based school boasts specialist rooms for science, ICT, Art, Music and Design Technology. It has spacious classrooms, a Theatre, purpose-built Sports Hall and a Chapel. The latest addition to facilities is a state-of-the-art Food Technology Centre, designed in collaboration with the Tanner brothers.

Headmaster, Chris Gatherer, said: “Our aim is to provide a safe and happy environment in which our pupils can grow in confidence and reach their full potential whatever their strengths. This is crucial in helping them to prepare for the next steps of their education and their adult lives.

“We hope that our Open Morning will give parents, grandparents and children a glimpse of what life is really like at the Prep School and that they will see first-hand why our pupils have a lot to smile about.”
