More than 2,000 women take part in St Luke's Hospice's Midnight Walk

On Saturday 27 July, the South West Community united in their support for a seventh celebration of St Luke’s Hospice at Plymouth's favourite girl’s night out, the Midnight Walk. Offering three routes of three, seven and 15 miles, this event truly demonstrates the support and dedication to the Hospice with over 2,000 women embarking on the challenge over the midnight hours.

Ladies gathered at Home Park creating a sea of pink t-shirts, tiaras and tutus. This year had a royal twist with sponsorship from Princess Yachts. The ladies began their night with a selection of fabulous performances from local female artists Erica Iji, Alice Gullick and Girl Friday on the St Luke’s stage, followed by a warm up from Zumba Plymouth.

Enthusiasm and energy soared high and this fun-filled event began and, despite the approach of the early morning, the spirits of these determined ladies remained admirable.

Emma Winter Events Fundraiser at St Luke's Said - "Since 2007, ladies have walked 151,926 miles which is the equivalent to walking around the world six times; raising an amazing £1.2 million pounds for St Luke's.

"A huge thank you to everyone who took part this year - to all you lovely ladies, volunteers, venues, suppliers and St Luke's staff for an amazing Midnight Walk 2013. We hope you had a fab time and look forward to seeing you all again next year!"

As hoped, the 2013 Midnight Walk was another huge success and we have every confidence that the funds raised will rival previous years yet again. We can only thank those who took part and hope that we’ll see you again next year.
