Living Coasts staff lead beach clean

Staff from Living Coasts, Torquay’s coastal zoo, are leading a clean-up of one of Torquay’s beaches.

Workers from the charity will join local volunteers to pick rubbish from Beacon Cove on the afternoon of Saturday 17th May.

Clare Rugg, from Living Coasts, explained: “Beacon Cove is the beach on our doorstep. It suffers with litter brought in by the waves and also left by beach users. Just offshore under the water is a bed of sea grass which is home to many local sea creatures. During May cuttlefish lay their eggs there. These colourful creatures are amazing to watch - their eggs are like grapes.

“We want to keep the Bay and our local beaches clean!”
