Christmas concert raises money for Plymouth-based charity

Last week, a magical Christmas concert brought Plymouth together to raise money for the Chief Constable’s chosen charity, Luna’s Fund. 

Over £700.00 was generously donated by local people who attended a festive concert at Plymouth methodist central hall on Wednesday 17 December.

During the daytime, more than 400 primary school children performed to an audience of parents and teachers, before meeting with their local policing team, the police cadets and Bravo the dog.

In the evening, guests – including the Mayor, the High Sherrif and the Deputy Lord Lieutenant - were entertained by Italia Conti, The Legacy Choir and Plymouth Youth Music Service.

Aimee Green, CEO of Luna’s Fund and mum of Luna, also gave a heartwarming speech to thank guests and performers for the part they played in raising £700.00 for the charity.

Luna’s Fund is a baby loss and pregnancy after loss charity, offering practical and emotional support to bereaved parents and expectant parents, and is the Chief Constable’s Foundation charity for 2025.

Plymouth Commander, Chief Superintendent Matt Longman, who was honoured to attend the concert said “Devon & Cornwall Police are incredibly grateful for the outstanding support and generosity shown by the people of Plymouth.

“Monies raised for Luna’s fund will make a meaningful difference to grieving families, and we’re proud to support a charity who provide vital support to families during a time of need.

“I’d like to express my thanks to everyone who took part; we were treated to some outstanding performances and there’s nothing better than seeing the community come together at Christmas to make a collective difference.”

Organisers thank attendees, performers, volunteers and emergency services personnel for making the event a success.
