Beer Action Group is delighted to announce a contribution so far of over £1,500 to help fund supplies for Ukraine.

This impressive amount was a result of the generosity of both locals and tourists who dug deep to donate to the Medics4Ukraine initiative, organised by World Extreme Medicine

Medics4Ukraine originated in Beer where World Extreme Medicine founder Mark Hannaford lives. Through convoys manned by volunteers, it delivers medical supplies and training for medics, helping those in desperate need in Ukraine.

As the donation was handed over, Mark said: “A heartfelt and huge thank you to the Beer Action Group for all their efforts. Every penny will go to purchase medical supplies, as the cost of the convoys to Ukraine is underwritten by World Extreme Medicine.

“Our fifth convoy recently completed its journey and the sixth will be leaving in late September – the team has received a 'winter wish list' and is working tirelessly to source what is needed.”

Beer Action Group fundraised through several traditional-style village events including a coffee morning with a Ukrainian theme and bring-and-buy sales.

The group continues to collect bric-a-brac and clothing to raise money for a variety of organisations. Donations can be left in the Beer Bomb Shelter next to the Barrel O’ Beer and everyone is welcome to browse what’s on offer or make a financial donation.
