National Housebuilder Vistry Partnerships has opened the gates to their Mayflower Leat development, to Plymouth Fire Service for a training day.

The site in North Prospect, Plymouth is being delivered in partnership with Plymouth Community Homes and is the final phase of redevelopment in the area. The development will include 196 homes, of which is a mixture of 1, 2, 3 & 4 bedroom homes.

The Development was anything but quiet last week with local fire crews tackling training exercises on site. Senior Site Manager, Robert Pendall played host to the major training day undertaken by Plymouth Fire Service, allowing the fire crew to get hands on with new build fire procedures.

Peter Sadler, Managing Director for Vistry Partnerships South West explained, “We were delighted to be able to open up our Mayflower Leat development to the local fire crew. It is important to plan and offer training for a wide range of potential emergency scenarios to ensure both internal and external teams are prepared, safe and competent.

The benefits of offering an insight to new build constructions through these realistic training days allows us to share information and working practices to help prevent an emergency and be prepared.”

Senior Site Manager, Robert Pendall commented, “I would strongly recommend that all Site Managers contact their local Fire Service to arrange visits and training sessions. This opportunity to learn first-hand from their experiences has been invaluable. Being able to offer prior knowledge of a site and the construction of our homes will help to prevent incidents and increase the speed of rescue.”
