Womble Bond Dickinson and Plymouth Community Homes partner to boost skills

Law firm Womble Bond Dickinson and Plymouth Community Homes (PCH), Plymouth’s largest social housing landlord, have partnered to deliver free training programmes for PCH residents.

Womble Bond Dickinson is supporting the Career Pathway in Administration, providing a range of courses from Excel training and CV writing days though to career planning sessions where the firm offers advice on how to fill application forms, interview technics and benefits of apprenticeships.

In May, Womble Bond Dickinson will also organise a three day work placement at its Plymouth office in Ballard House on West Hoe Road, giving comprehensive insight into how a law firm works and the range of different careers available.

The Career Pathway in Administration forms part of PCH's award winning Learn for Free training programmes, aiming to deliver a wide range of free courses and qualifications for its residents.

Craig Moore, Partner and Head of Womble Bond Dickinson's Plymouth office, commented: "We are humbled by the fantastic support our client PCH delivers to its residents and so when we heard about the Learn for Free training programmes, we really wanted to be part of the initiative.

"We strongly believe that successful businesses have a responsibility to support their local communities and we're delighted to have partnered with PCH on this project. As business professionals, we have an important skill set which we want to share with our local community to help more people acquire key skills and boost employment in the region."

Rheinallt Huws, Learn for Free Coordinator at PCH, added: “It’s been great working with Womble Bond Dickinson. They have provided a high quality training opportunity and the feedback from residents is spot-on. Tenants reported how their confidence and knowledge of the subjects increased and also said that they had a fun time whilst learning. We definitely want to do more courses with Womble Bond Dickinson."

Womble Bond Dickinson is also heavily involved in a comprehensive Corporate Social Responsibility programme, supporting a number of charities across its eight UK offices including Jeremiah's Journey, St Peter's Hospice, Southampton Sholing Salvation Army, Greenwich Legal Advice Centre, Percy Hedley and CLAN to name a few.

Ranking in the UK's top 20 law firms, Womble Bond Dickinson provides legal expertise in eleven key sectors. It is the largest transatlantic law firm in the South West and in Plymouth, it employs more than 180 staff.
