South West restaurant group Hubbox is getting ready to expand its operations.

The group, which already operates restaurants in six locations, is adding a second outlet in Plymouth’s Royal William Yard.

Group founder Richard Boon said; ‘We’ve got a beautiful building with a great interior to work with. With a population of 265,000, a great tourist boom in the summer and a huge university, Plymouth is more than man enough to have two Hubbox sites at opposing ends of the city.’

The plans don’t stop there though. Exeter, which is home to the first bricks and mortar restaurant in the group, is getting a bigger restaurant when the current location is moved to a new venue this year.

Richard believes that moving to a bigger location will allow them to offer more to customers including, ‘…bars and a longer all-day trading including breakfast and a great coffee offering. The move gives us scope to build a fresh new restaurant with a cool bar area and a wider varied food offer.’

These plans signal a bright year for the chain which has already held big success when they won the Bristol Good Food Award for best chain in February. They faced stiff competition from national brands such as The Ivy and Wahaca.

‘Great food, value and service in a nice environment will always prevail. We were certainly in esteemed company in this category so we were stoked to win, although ironically we don’t see Hubbox as a chain, just a small family of great places to eat and drink.’
