State of the art heart scanning equipment will shortly be utilised by a specialist health company, based at Plymouth Science Park, to help improve cardiac services across the South West.

Ultracardiac will be able to provide detailed heart scans for patients when it opens its new premises at PSP over the next few months.

With more than three years of detailed planning and a contingent of three highly qualified and experienced operators, the team is developing strong links with local hospitals and care providers to provide a professional and cost-effective service - which will help to relieve pressure on hospital resources by assisting with their outpatient appointments.

Plymouth Science Park is an ideal location for Ultracardiac. Its close proximity to Derriford Hospital ensures convenience for patients. PSP also hosts a large number of companies specialising solely in the areas of Science and Technology.

The team will use the latest cardiac ultra sound equipment to provide a detailed scan of a patient’s heart before efficiently producing a report.

The painless, non-invasive procedure is carried out in a number of private areas within the on-site complex.

The process of ultra sound for cardiac scanning allows clinicians to access the structure and function of the heart – in particular, looking at its overall pumping capability and evaluating the heart’s valves.
