How to dispose of old business equipment
Do you have old business equipment that you no longer want or need? You do not want the office filled with clutter as this can impact morale and productivity, but equally you do not want to take equipment to landfill particularly when there is so much pressure on businesses to be more eco-friendly. Here are a few good ways that you can dispose of your unwanted business equipment.
Sell Unwanted Items
A smart way to get rid of anything in the office that you no longer need is to sell it and this can be a smart way to raise some money and invest in better equipment. Ad-ditionally, it is easier than ever to sell unwanted items in today’s day and age as there are so many excellent online marketplaces where people are always on the lookout for second hand equipment (including other business owners). The equipment will need to, obviously, be working and in ok condition if you want to sell it.
Recycle
Often, you will be able to recycle the office equipment and this is a smart and envi-ronmentally-friendly option as opposed to taking it to landfill. Additionally, this is made quick and easy thanks to services like The First Mile who can even come to your place of work and collect the items for you which can take the stress out of recycling it yourself (this can be tricky if it is a large item like a sofa).
Donate to Charity
Another good option is to donate your unwanted business equipment to charities. Charities will gladly take all kinds of furniture, equipment and other office items and help to find a new home for them.
Donate to Another Business
You could donate the equipment to another business and this can be a nice gesture if it is a company that you have a good relationship with (obviously not a competitor!). New startups and smaller businesses often struggle to afford office equipment so do-nating unwanted items to a company that you respect is a nice touch and ensures that the equipment finds a good home.
It is hard to know what to do when you no longer need office furniture and you should always avoid taking it to landfill if you can. The above are all good options and you will often find that there is someone or another business that will happily take the equipment off of your hands whether this is for free or for a small amount.
