Law firm Browne Jacobson has been awarded ‘Best vacation scheme by a national firm 2017’ by leading graduate recruitment website, AllAboutLaw.co.uk.

The firm was given the accolade for the success of their two week summer vacation scheme which was launched in 2015.

The firm was also shortlisted in the following categories, ‘Best Training Contract – National Firm’, ‘Best Opportunities for Career Progression - Vacation Scheme’ and ‘Best Level of Support - Vacation Scheme’.

The awards, which took place at a ceremony in London, celebrate the best vacation schemes and training contracts offered by law firms UK wide. Feedback comes directly from current trainee solicitors and recent participants of summer vacation schemes.

Helen Dunham, Head of HR at Browne Jacobson said:
“I am delighted that our summer vacation scheme has been recognised as one of the best in the recruitment sector nationally.

“The team behind it have worked really hard to find a great way of recruiting the best dynamic talent in to the firm. The scheme is a great opportunity for the budding lawyers who apply to get a feel for what life is like at Browne Jacobson and likewise, gives us a snapshot of whether they can be a real advocate of our core brand values and a good fit to our people culture and client base.”

The firm’s summer vacation scheme offers up to 20 second year law and third year non-law undergraduates an opportunity to gain an insight into the legal sector and is a potential stepping stone towards obtaining a training contract. Four of the firm’s new 2017 trainees came via the firm’s summer vacation scheme.

The firm look for a host of attributes in the candidates to ensure they are of the highest quality and the right fit for the firm. Some of these include:

  • a real commitment and interest in the law
  • the ability to practically solve problems
  • commercial and business awareness
  • the ability to work collaboratively in a team.

The firm was also recently ranked in this year’s Guardian UK 300, an independent guide to the best graduate employers, for the fourth year running.

The vacation scheme will be open for applications from 16 October, and is aimed at individuals who wish to start a training contract in 2020.
