Plymouth stabbing victim named

A man who was killed after he was stabbed at Plymouth station yesterday morning has been formally identified.

Wayne Fenton, a 49-year-old man from the Plymouth area was seriously injured on the concourse just before 10am. He was rushed to hospital by paramedics but sadly died as a result of his injuries.

A man was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody. Officers have received authorisation to detain him for a further twelve hours.

DCI Paul Langley from British Transport Police, said: “This is a fast paced investigation and I have a number of officers working behind the scenes. The man who was arrested yesterday remains in police custody and we’re continuing to question him in relation to this incident. I would like to thank the large numbers of witnesses who have come forward and my officers are in the process of speaking to those individuals”  

“Yesterday’s news would have come as a devastating shock for this family. My thoughts are with them at this stage and we have specially trained officers supporting them as they come to terms with this news.”
