This weekend, 19 and 20 November, actors and stage performers will bring the classic tale ‘A Christmas Carol’ to life at the Barbican, with visitors able to follow Ebenezer Scrooge through the atmospheric, winding streets as he meets his past, present and future.

The interactive tours will run every hour from 12 to 4pm from the Tourist Information Centre and participants will discover not only what really happens at Fezziwigg’s Christmas Party but also uncover the hidden secrets of The Barbican.

The magical event is just one of the many that are planned for the weekend which will include everything from a snow-making machine, and Reindeer, to Santa arriving on the city’s RNLI lifeboat to turn on the Barbican Christmas lights.

Visitors will be able to create their own Christmas cards on the Barbican Parade, take ‘Elfie Selfies’ in a special log cabin where children can feed real Reindeer with Elf treats, receive a certificate to send to Santa, and enjoy delicious mince pies.

Launching too will be the new Waterfront Snowflake Trail, which will run until 3 January 2017, encouraging families to collect the names of the 20 Snowflakes located at the Royal William Yard, Millbay, Hoe, Barbican and Sutton Harbour - all within walking distance of one another – with the opportunity to win some fabulous prizes.
