Appeal after 93-year-old woman robbed

Police are appealing for witnesses after a 93-year-old wheelchair-bound woman was robbed of her handbag.

The incident happened around 3.20pm on Monday 1 May by the cut through to the rear of Tracey Court from Western Approach.

A man approached the victim from behind and stole the bag containing £130 cash and various bank cards. He then ran across Western Approach and down Market Way.

Police are investigating the offence and seeking a suspect who is described as white, of stocky build and with dark hair. He was wearing dark clothing.

A police spokesperson said: “This was a particularly nasty incident involving an elderly victim who was targeted due to her vulnerability. It has caused her a great deal of upset. We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the offence or has any information to assist with the investigation.”

A 27-year-old woman and a 46-year-old man, both from Plymouth, have been arrested on suspicion of robbery and released under investigation pending further enquiries.
