Special guests will join Destination Plymouth at a conference held at Boringdon Hall next week to discuss how Plymouth can maximise overseas visitor opportunities.

Businesses and students in the tourism and hospitality sector can attend this conference, sponsored by City College Plymouth, taking place on Thursday 26 November from 12.30pm to 4pm.

Chair of Destination Plymouth, Duncan Currall, said: “This is the third tourism and visitor economy conference we have held in the city and it provides an exciting opportunity for businesses to hear from the leading experts in this field as well as how to work together to raise the visitor economy in the city.

“The event is open to all businesses, entrepreneurs and students within the sector and this year we have some amazing guest speakers, who I’m sure will enthuse and motivate those attending.”

Maureen McAllister, Director of the South West Tourism Fund is one of the guest speakers and she will give an update of the recent £5 million Government funding grant to market the region internationally and how the programme is progressing.

Vice Principle of City College Plymouth, Simon Friend will also be at the conference, as well as Sales & Marketing Director for Great Western Railway, Diane Burke, and Economy and Tourism Manager for Exeter City Council and Chair of Visit Devon, Victoria Hatfield.

Amanda Lumley, Chief Executive of Destination Plymouth will also provide an update into the tourism opportunities associated with the Mayflower 400 plans.
