Three Plymouth-based projects have been shortlisted for the 2017 Michelmores Property Awards, which celebrate outstanding property and construction projects in the South West, across ten categories.

One Research Way, which forms phase five of the Plymouth Science Park campus, has been shortlisted for Commercial Project of the Year, as well as Building of the Year. The site offers eleven flexible business units that can accommodate businesses of up to 80 people on each of its three floors.

Meanwhile, BBC Plymouth's new home has also been shortlisted under the category of Commercial Project of the Year. The refurbishment saw the modernisation of the existing building to allow for state-of-the-art broadcasting technology and modern work spaces for staff.

In addition, luxury spa retreat Gaia Spa, set within the grounds of Grade I listed Boringdon Hall in Plymouth has been shortlisted for Leisure & Hospitality Project of the year. The contemporary design of the spa's pools, treatment rooms and social areas discretely span three floors, utilising nature to create spaces for relaxation and rejuvenation.

Partner Mike Lea of sponsors Smith & Williamson, who was one of the judges, said:

“When it comes to innovation and diversity, the South West’s property and construction businesses can really hold their own. Competition across all categories was high again this year, and the quality of the entries was remarkable. We are delighted to continue to support this important industry event and look forward to meeting the winners and many others at the awards ceremony in June.”

Emma Honey, Head of Property at Michelmores, said:

"Yet again we have received an extremely high quality of entries, spread across many sectors. This year's shortlist shows the South West property and construction industry as a real powerhouse of innovation, and is a signal of exciting times ahead."

Now in their fifteenth year, the annual awards showcase and celebrate the best of the South West's property and construction industry. The winners will be announced at an Awards Dinner on Thursday 15 June at the University of Exeter, presented by comedian and actor Marcus Brigstocke.
