Silicon Technology Company Wins National Award

Plymouth-based technology company, Moortec Semiconductor, have been announced as winners of the prestigious Techworks Emerging Technology Company Award. Moortec, who license in-chip monitoring technology to many Silicon-Valley companies, accepted the award last week in London.

Accepted by Moortec CEO Stephen Crosher and VP of Marketing Ramsay Allen, the award honours growing companies showing excellent progress and demonstrating impressive growth in areas such as revenue, headcount, innovation, investment and/or market traction as success indicators.

The awards celebrate the year’s key electronics innovations, people and companies from across the UK and Ireland.

With headquarters in the Plymouth Science Park, Moortec licenses technologies designed to monitor the physical conditions of silicon chips used within today’s electronics products.

With a global customer base, Moortec’s designs are today being utilised within a range of technology areas, such as smart phones, digital TVs, cars and high performance computing for datacentres.

The award was presented by the renowned Journalist John Sergeant, who highlighted the category’s close race and said the company’s vision is a key factor in winning, stating: “Moortec has a strong vision to become the market leading IP vendor for in-chip monitoring, optimisation and analytics technologies and services.”

Established in 2005, Moortec provides compelling embedded subsystem IP solutions for Process, Voltage & Temperature (PVT) monitoring, targeting advanced node CMOS technologies on 40nm, 28nm, 16nm, 12nm and 7nm. Moortec’s in-chip sensing solutions support the semiconductor design community’s demands for increased device reliability and enhanced performance optimisation, enabling schemes such as DVFS, AVS and power management control systems.
