Psychologists from the University of Plymouth will be giving businesses a chance to get a different perspective on their world of work at an event at the Plymouth Science Park on Monday.

The specialists will be answering a range of questions at an event designed to help businesses grow and change.

Subjects include: How do you motivate people to do the things that they say they are going to do, but don’t? What are the psychological (psychometric) traits likely to lead to successful entrepreneurship? What are the pros and cons of open-plan offices? How do group dynamics affect work performance and work satisfaction? How can you ensure that questionnaires and focus groups give you unbiased and scientifically robust answers to your questions? Are there some persistent errors that occur when staff are carrying out regular work tasks?

These everyday challenges will be answered by the team at a two hour lunchtime session designed to help them learn about the psychology behind a team’s behaviour, lift the lid on what makes people tick and why room layout makes a difference - among many other subjects.

The Psychologists attending, and their specialisms, will be:
Prof Tim Hollins - Memory and Cognition
Dr Peter Jones - Learning and Cognition
Dr Natalie Wyer - Social Psychology
Dr Liz Hellier - Human Factors and Occupational Psychology
Dr Alison Bacon - Psychometrics, Dyslexia
Prof Jackie Andrade - Behaviour Change and Motivation
Prof Judy Edworthy - Human Factors, Noise, Warnings

The event will be held at Plymouth Science Park’s Bayliss Suite between 12pm and 2pm. For more information or tickets please contact https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/in-the-psychiatrists-chair-tickets-195467...
