Local charity Age Concern has been chosen by Crediton-based employees at Ernest Jackson to receive a donation of £5,000.
Dedicated to supporting and improving the quality of life for the elderly in Crediton and its surrounding villages, the charity will be granted a substantial figure from The Cadbury Foundation, as part of its ‘Your Charity Your Choice’ scheme.
Aiming to make a positive difference and add value to individuals’ lives by offering services to promote wellbeing and independence, Age Concern Crediton offers vital support services for the local community including its Day Centre, free advice and information, as well as providing home support for those in need. The £5,000 donation will contribute to Age Concern Crediton’s important services, including its daycare centre, aiming to offer the elderly in the community the opportunity to maintain independent living.
Each year, Mondelēz International UK employees are invited to nominate wellbeing-related charities or projects close to their hearts, with the final shortlisted charities voted for by the wider work force.
Nicola Pickard, procurement and commercial services manager at Ernest Jackson, nominated the charity to receive the £5,000 grant. Nicola said: “Living in Crediton myself, I can see the invaluable support that this great charity provides to our local community.
“The remarkable donation will enable Age Concern Crediton to continue its fantastic support and services to those in need locally, as well as allow more individuals gain access to the amazing facilities.”
Bev Whaley, chief officer at Age Concern Crediton, commented: “We’d like to send our biggest gratitude and thanks to The Cadbury Foundation for this generous donation. The grant is crucially important to a small, independent, local charity like ours, for us to continue providing the variety of services to the elderly of Crediton and the surrounding villages.”
The Cadbury Foundation, which is celebrating its 85th birthday this year, was set up in 1935 in recognition of Richard and George Cadbury and their investment in the welfare of their employees and local community. Across all Mondelēz International UK sites, £90,000 will be pledged for the ‘Your Charity Your Choice’ campaign.
Kelly Farrell, community affairs manager at Mondelēz International, said: “We’re extremely proud to be able to support the charities that are important to our employees through our ‘Your Charity Your Choice’ scheme.
“Age Concern Crediton provides incredible support and services to the local community and surrounding areas, and we’re delighted to know that with The Cadbury Foundation’s help, they can continue delivering vital care to those in need in the local community.”
