A brand-new business centre will launch in Spring in Derriford Business Park led by flexible workspace providers Venaspace.

Recently acquiring The Apex in Derriford Business Park, previously the Valuation Office Agency, Venaspace will launch a series of brand-new workspaces promoting flexible office space for local businesses in the science and technology rich area. The site is Venaspace’s seventh site in the South West.

Members will benefit from more than just an office space with access to beautifully designed meeting rooms, a conference suite for 20 people and breakout areas with free locally brewed beer on tap (yes, free beer on tap!), while outdoor space is utilised with a private garden and BBQ area.

Set over three floors and providing flexible workspace for businesses to collaborate, Venaspace Plymouth spans 22,000sqft and has been carefully designed to promote productivity and wellbeing, with connection to its surrounding gardens with spans of glass to create light flooded spaces. The space also reflects the changing nature of work, with flexible contracts from 1 month and technology enabling seamless communication between those at home or in offices.

Venaspace CEO and ex tech headhunter, Alex Bonnet, said “Plymouth is one of the most exciting locations in the UK for its investment in Science and Technology, so it was a natural choice to open a space here. With buildings in other leading technology hubs like Bournemouth and Exeter, we’ve been able to provide start-ups and growing enterprises with flexible, dedicated workspace in a collaborative, modern environment. With excellent transport links and plentiful parking, we will be offering modern plug and play offices on flexible terms.”

“The Freeport status is set to unlock millions of pounds of funding for businesses in Plymouth so we were keen to invest in infrastructure to support the growth of these businesses and the start-ups which will be born from this investment. I am certainly looking forward to enjoying a pint with new clients in the months to come at The Apex.”

The company has also committed to ensuring a more sustainable workplace, which is evident internally throughout the remodelling, but also outside with 9 EV car chargers set to be installed in April, a huge investment in the accessibility to Derriford.

The first phase of the redevelopment on the former HMRC site will be ready for businesses to move in from April.
